Fortune 500 Slow To Blog, Faster To Embrace Other Social Media

About a year ago today, Chris Anderson and Steve Rubel posted on the four percent (20) of Fortune 500 companies that were blogging.
Steve predicted “the Empire - e.g. large corporations - will strike back in a big way in an effort to make sure they don’t lose the online word of mouth game to the [...]

Census Says: We Spend 60 Percent Of Our Waking Hours Consuming Media

The U.S. census 2007 abstracts were released today.  I love digging into the Information and Communications section every year to see how much time and money we’re spending on media.  The 2007 projections says each of us are spending about 3,499 hours and almost $900 per year watching TV, listening to our satellite radios, surfing [...]

The blogosphere is doubling in size approximately every 230 days.
About 100,000 new weblogs were created each day, down slightly quarter-over-quarter [...]

I’m Glad My Son Is Too Young To Drive

You’ll hear the phrase “ghostriding the whip” in the coming days.  It’s the latest viral video craze on YouTube.  It’s also the refrain in E-40’s song “Tell Me When to Go.”
“Ghostriding” is when the driver of a car exits the vehicle — while it is moving — and dances on its hood or roof or [...]

Circulation Plunges At Major Newspapers, On-Line Traffic Surges

Here is more evidence that people are going on-line for their news and information. Newspaper circulations have been declining for the past two decades in developed countries. The decline in the last six months is the steepest on record.
At the same time, September was a banner month for newspapers’ website traffic. 58 [...]
