Census Says: We Spend 60 Percent Of Our Waking Hours Consuming Media

The U.S. census 2007 abstracts were released today.  I love digging into the Information and Communications section every year to see how much time and money we’re spending on media.  The 2007 projections says each of us are spending about 3,499 hours and almost $900 per year watching TV, listening to our satellite radios, surfing the Internet, reading newspapers, etc.  Most of us will be awake 2/3 of the year.  That means we’re spending almost 60% of our time consuming media.  In 2007 I think I actually spent less time consuming media versus 2005.  RSS feeds are a much more efficient way to get my news.  And, my wife and I Tivo our favorite shows and ignore the rest.  Do you think you are spending more time or less with media?  Why?

That’s interesting. We are media junkies.
