Crackberry Blackberry
BlackberryCool posted on this Crackberry Blackberry video on YouTube. I see our CEO Jeff Hunt in this video…and myself! I’m blaming Hunt for my early addiction to my 8700.
I really like my 8700 for two reasons: e-mail is an obvious one. RIM did a great job of integrating the Blackberry with Outook. It works beautifully. Secondly, I use it to read RSS feeds when I have the opportunity — it really allows me to stay up to date with what’s up with clients, digital media, etc. The alternative would be early morning or late night blog reading which is no fun at all. By the way, I use Bloglines Mobile to read about 100 feeds, and I’m experimenting with Google Blog Reader. Based on what I’ve been reading on the net, it sounds like Google’s reader may win out, but I will reserve judgement until I test it myself.
Mark Cater, the CEO of GCI London, picked up a Blackberry Pearl in NYC yesterday to carry back to London. What a sweet device. Makes my 8700 look like a brick. I’ve been thinking about upgrading because of its smaller form factor, but more important it has a camera and multimedia player. Yes, I will watch video on my phone! I’d also occasionally tune-in to my SlingBox for sports. I’m hesitating because my 8700 screen is awesome — it just won a smart phone picture bake-off in PC Magazine — which makes it great for reading feeds.
The Pearl has a nice screen, but it is more narrow. I’m also really worried about getting used to the SureType keyboard, but I know after 8 weeks I’d be used to it. If anyone has made the switch would love to hear about it.
A lot of executives use Blackberries. I’m surprised we don’t see more marketing programs exploiting this. We are pursing ideas with a few B2B clients.

Unless you are a SMS wizard like my 18-year-old cousin, my bet is that SureType will limit you to even shorter, quickie e-mails. Might impact your e-mail content and productivity.
The larger screen is sure nice. I’m holding out for the 8800 coming Q207(?) –
