Yes… This Used To Be A Longhorn Football Podcast

“nytexanexan” sent me an e-mail this afternoon asking “where’s BJ and where’s my Longhorn football podcast…” I thought I should explain just in case there are other folks out there receiving The Zone Read feed. Last year BJ Jones, Bryan Anderton and I produced 20 podcasts on Longhorn football (you can still find them on iTunes and podcast directories). It all started as a really fun experiment, but turned into cash-flow-positive digital media venture. Time Warner Cable, Run Tex and The University of Texas Extensions signed on as sponsors. By the end of the season we had more than 250k unique visitors tuned in to hear former athletes’ perspectives on Vince Young and the national champion Longhorns. We talked about doing it again, but we are all too busy! BJ has a full-time, exclusive on-air gig with CSTV (A CBS company). Brian’s doing all sorts of cool stuff at Lava Studios and, in fact, we collaborated on a podcast pilot for Whole Foods Market. I joined GCI Group in April to start their Digital Media practice, and I am already working with cool clients like Dell, Nike, Sony, Pioneer and Whole Foods. My work is the new focus of The Zone Read.
