Monitoring Blogs Just Got A Little More Efficient
This morning I needed to do some research on a prospective client I am meeting with this week. One of my first stops is always Technorati which is essentially a blog search engine. Periodically our search expert Wilson Tan compares Technorati results to Google Blog Search (still in beta), Ask Blogs & Feeds and other search options. Technorati is the front-runner at the moment, and we use it a lot. This morning I noticed a new feature on Technorati — you can now create an RSS feed for a keyword search so you don’t have to return to Technorati three times a day to see what’s been posted about your company. This feed also can be syndicated… and that opens up a whole new world of possibilities. This is a very cool development, indeed. Thank you, Technorati.

Think the functionality kicked in the middle of last week. Previously, one could generate a generic RSS search feed but couldn’t specify the level of authority or language. This new functionality solves that. Plus two additional nice touches:
Bloglines displays the number of links from number of sites within its feed which helps determine authority at a glance.
A similiar search by keyword RSS feed can be generated via Favorites. Important when limiting search to a shortlist of blogs.
